GOALS
Among the goals of the Regional Compact that are aligned with the PCI strategy are:

Produce

  1. Promote the integration of small/ medium/large rural producers in the municipality’s priority production chains
  2. Foster land use intensification in livestock and agriculture
  3. Advance in the adoption of crop/livestock integration systems
  4. Promote the production of renewable energies through biomass
  5. Make the municipality a reference in the production and quality of calves

Conserve

  1. Fight against illegal deforestation
  2. Support the implementation of the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) in all municipalities
  3. Implement the environmental regularization program (PRA), with the restoration of degraded areas permanent protection areas and legal reserves
  4. Advance in water and soil conservation techniques
  5. Adopt Best Agricultural Practices (BPA) for rural and family farmers
  6. Foster payment programs for environmental services (PES)
  7. Promote environmental sanitation in the municipality’s rural properties

Include

  1. Increase ATER (Technical Assistance and Rural Extension) services in settlements, small holdings and indigenous lands, with a focus on the production chains for beekeeping, olive growing, dairy farming, pig farming, goats and sheep farming, fruit growing, fish farming (aquaculture and artisanal) as well as organic production
  2. Increase the regularization and environmental adequacy of rural properties in partnership with relevant authorities
  3. Increase operational, strategic, commercial and professional support for rural properties and family farmers

COMMITMENT

In 2019, through the Barra do Garças local government together with PCI, IDH, JBS and private sector class entities,  a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the objective of establishing cooperation and carrying out the necessary efforts to promote sustainable economic development through of the PCI strategy in the Municipality of Barra do Garças. The term of the agreement is five years and is expected to last until 2024.

Projeto Campos do Araguaia

Coordinated by TNC, Grupo Roncador and supported by the IDH aimed at strengthening the livestock sustainable intensification agenda in the Araguaia Valley. The project was carried out between 2016 and 2019.
